Poker Isn’t Dead. You just need to know where to find the money.

Poker hasn’t vanished, and it definitely hasn’t been solved.
What has changed is this: it no longer shows up on your screen at 7 PM with a whale and a sweet rakeback deal.
Ever since GGpoker’s high stakes games went private, many pros moved down in stakes.
The games became a bit tougher.
If your edge is gone, you may just have become complacent.

In 2025, running sims to improve your game isn’t the only skill to work on.
It’s finding where the money is hidden.

You could be the best player in the world, but if you're playing against great opponents and the rake is high, you're wasting your time.

Alter your approach and find the hidden money:

  • Try off-peak hours (less volume, but worse players)

  • Cut out junk volume (being tired after your session doesn’t mean you made lots of EV)

  • Build alternative strategies your opponents don’t understand (if you play like everyone else, you’ll win or lose like everyone else)

  • Be aware of the rake and rakeback, whenever you sit down to play

  • Explore apps or smaller sites in protected player pools you have access to (be super cautious playing on unregulated sites)

  • Don’t ask “Where are the good games?” but “Where are the unprepared players?”

  • Build connections in the (live) poker world

Providing value to other players will open up many doors for you. Poker is not a team sport, but you can still build a team of high-quality players that you work with.
Not only can you improve your game by working with winning players. They may invite you to a private game, or set you up on an app game you didn’t even know existed.

Your EV playing major sites is limited. You don’t need to completely change your approach and quit these games overnight.
Instead, continue to play high-quality games no your current sites.

But the best games are often the ones that are not being advertised. You don’t have to choose just one. Work on expanding your options, and the pick the games that suit you.

Beatable games are still out there.
Poker didn’t die. You just have to find the money.
